Barcelona is a city boiling over with life and activity as can be seen in the great amount of festivals, sports, cultural activities and parties that take place on any given day.

From partying in the street to dancing it up in the cityīs fashionable discos, the best part of "Barna" is the way each person makes it their own: living freely and improvising with itīs incredible vibe. From spontaneous parties on the Barceloneta Beach to concerts on the Rambla de Raval- to each their own: all can be found here. Come and participate in the madness and let yourself be surprised by that which awaits you at every corner! If you are looking for a little structure, however, here is a list of some of Barcelonaīs greatest fiestas and biggest parties that should not be missed.

- Every Sunday afternoon in the Parc Ciutadella young people come together to play drums, juggle and recover from a Saturday night of partying together. The ambiance is incredible!

- The Parties of the Barceloneta beach, which take place throughout the summer, are mythical.

- There, people of all types gather in the sandy beaches surrounding the famous beach bars to play music and pass the evening together. A must go!

- Every full moon during the winter people also gather at Parc Guell where drums are played to honor its fullness.

- And, in the summer, you can go and watch movies shown outdoors for free at the Olympic Stadium of Montjuic. Watch a movie while taking a swim!

Activitie’s Calendary

February: Carnaval. The Carnavales of Sitges are the most famous in the region.Though February is a bit cold, you are sure to keep warm dancing!

April 23: Sant Jordi. Barcelona at itīs most beautiful, the streets overflow with flowers and books on this day celebrating love. We recommend taking a walk along Passeig de Gracia and letting the smell of roses consume you.

Early May: Torneig Godo. This is the part of the ATP Tennis Tournament that calls Barcelona home.

Mid May: Barcelonaīs Marathon. A 10k run that ends at Barcelonaīs Olympic Stadium.

End of May: Primavera Sound Festival. A music festival celebrating the works of independent artists that takes place alongside the sea.

Mid June: SONAR. An International Music and Multimedia festival- this is the Barna music and art scene at itīs best. Thousands of people from all over the world come together to enjoy the worldīs best DJs in the city's Raval neighbourhood that becomes the meeting place for the coolest of the cool. June 23 - Sant Joan: The longest day and shortest night of the year , this is a day the Catalanīs celebrate as one filled with magic. Bonfires line the beaches while firecrackers fill the sky and cups overflow with champagne as the night is transformed into an explosion of color and joy.

End of August - The Fiestas of Gracia. Gracia, a neighbourhood booming with Barcelonaīs eclectic personality celebrates itīs fiesta in the heat of August. The streets are decorated with crazy ideas and the plazas filled with live music.

September 11 - La Diada. The national festival of Catalunya, many of the traditions particular to Catalunya are celebrated on this day. Sardanas, a traditional dance, are danced, impressive human castles called castellers come together and traditional music played, creating the ambiance of a typical small town celebration.

Mid September - Festival de Teatro de Tarrega. Street theater and improvisation fill the streets of Tarrega- a city 1 hour from Barcelona. During the festival the city is filled with people who flock there to enjoy the thousand free concerts that are given there over the period of 3 days. They hold a championship and the cultural activities multiply to the enjoyment of all.

November - Festival international de Jazz de Barcelona. This is one of the Jazz festivals best known throughout Europe with a line-up that gets better every year.

Early December - Festival de Cine fantastico Sitges. For movie lovers- those with a liking for horror movies in particular.
